Thread: Diablo 3 "Real Money" Auction house announced by Blizz.

Blizzard announced today that Diablo 3 will feature a "Real Money" auction house allowing players to both BUY and SELL goods on the auction house for REAL life cash.

This is an attempt on their part to discourage currency and goods selling and farming much like Diablo 2 had to suffer through. (and still is suffering)

I plan to have a dozen or so accounts the first day the game is available (or if there's a head start I plan to be in it) and get a serious group of my RL friends together to farm everything possible within our capabilities.

This will put a huge dent in the overwhelming Chinese work force of farmers and botters,
Since everyone else will be using the Auction House to sell their goods as well.

No longer will the industry be dominated by workshops and studios of hundreds of underpaid workers.

What are your guys thoughts on this?

Are you going to get a team together and divide people among the servers/factions whatever or dominate one server and go from there?

The day it drops i'll most likely have a group of people at my house and setup a LAN party, With the use of my VPN services we will run multiple accounts for a few days at a time till we not only reach a higher level but obtain a lot of goods for sale.

Just a rough draft though.

Blizzard are recruiting an Anti-cheat engineer so there is a window of opportunity before that job gets taken. I'm not saying that there is only 1 engineer but it's 1 less engineer so we have a great opportunity

Looks like you have to load the funds onto your battle net account to spend them, So I'm curious if you're limited to that and will be unable to withdraw said funds.

I have never heard of blizzard doing anything like this. Should be interesting to see how it works with the games economy. I agree that it will reduce the number of botters and farmers, but if the prices of items stay high enough I think this will just make them go all out.

Even if you can't spend the money outside of Blizzard you could easily pay for all of your gaming needs from them. I am curious what kind of restrictions they will put on things though. I'll be watching this closely.
